Mood and Tone: Analyzing Different Poems on the Same Topic
After reading and viewing videos of poems on the same topic with different moods and tones (and discussing the differences as a class), students independently completed a classwork assignment in which they were given words that represented each tone and mood and asked to match the descriptor to the appropriate poem.
This will lead into a word choice activity that moves from the poetry unit to a unit that encompasses diction and word choice in various types of prose.
